Aeo3 Tech Articles site is up

by S.K. Leng on Oct.28, 2009, under Announcements

Aeo3 Tech Articles, a repository for documentations, articles, guides, faqs, tutorials and occasional editorials is finally up and running.

It will primarily be for software manuals, tutorials and some frequent asked questions.

The other day, someone asked me why keep a site, a blog and a content management system (cms) running parallel, when i could just roll everything into the cms.

The main site Aeo3.com is manually coded without any major complexities. It’s simple, yet it gives me maximum flexibility on how the site will look like.

I also like the idea that once things are compartmentalized, even if the cms or blog is down for upgrade or maintenance, the main site is still up and running. It was important for me to have the main site and blog online when i take the cms offline for upgrade.

The blog is mainly focused on my work, thoughts on projects and general stuff that goes on internally. I wanted nothing too serious, fairly easy to use and maintain.

Originally, the content management system was not planned, but i came to realize that Aeo3 needs an organized way to manage all the training materials and software documentations – easy to add, keep track of and update. Why later, when i could do it now. It would also be a great place to talk about the technologies and the computer industry in general… when time allows.

Check it out at Tech.Aeo3.com

Aeo3 Tech Articles

by S.K. Leng on Oct.23, 2009, under Announcements

A repository for Aeo3 articles is almost done.

It will predominantly be a collection of articles related to reliable and secure computing, Aeo3 software tutorials, manuals, how-tos and what-is type of articles. Occasionally, will have some editorial on topics related to the tech industry and what is happening.

Will have to test drive for a week or so before releasing it.

Can’t wait!

Liberation!!!

by S.K. Leng on Oct.18, 2009, under Announcements

It is good to be FREE!

Finally most of the site is up and operational. This blog is the latest update for the website. Another major piece of the Aeo3 pie is a Content Management System (CMS) that has to be setup.

The Latest Releases

Many updates and changes have been made since 3rd of October 2009 – when Aeo3 was officially launched.

• Aeo3.com – This is a site that has been shaping in my mind for eons. Many distractions have taken me away from this personal project.

Adobe Flash was intentionally not a major part of Aeo3 for practical and functionality reasons, and also like to start small in a manageable fashion. The last thing I need is being overwhelmed with too many cosmetics and stressed out. Aeo3 will grow organically.

While this site will continue to evolve and expand, there are equally important software to be released in the coming months.

• Aeo3 Pingo (10th October 2009)
A network and internet connectivity testing tool. It has a reasonably useful Reverse DNS capability and an editable Ping target list. While more could be done, it was the objective to keep this version simple and clean. Nothing overly complicated.

A useful function of Aeo3 Pingo is to start when Windows boot-up — User has to manually place a shortcut in the START > STARTUP folder. With the Auto-Ping and Use List options activated, it will always minimize to system tray when Window starts up with indicator of connectivity.

For more information go to Aeo3 Pingo page.

• Aeo3 HD Smart Lite (12th October 2009)
This is a little portable Hard Disk utility that I used often to read the drives’ health, performance and operation status. This set of information is known as the hard disk drive’s Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (or S.M.A.R.T.) data.

There are more comprehensive ideas i hope to implement with Aeo3 HD Smart Lite. These improvements will be realized in the next release – Aeo3 HD Smart Pro.

For more information go to Aeo3 HD Smart page.

That’s it for now. Super!
